Liv’s journey with Operation Wallacea began in 2015 as a school student on an expedition to Dominica. She later returned in 2018 as an undergraduate researcher in Mexico, studying green sea turtle behaviour while completing her Zoology degree at the University of Leeds. That expedition was a turning point and the moment that truly ignited her passion for marine biology and set her on the path she’s on today.
With a PGCE from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Marine Vertebrate Conservation from the University of Exeter, Liv has worked as both a secondary science teacher and full-time marine biologist. Her research has focused on shark movement ecology, using satellite and acoustic tagging and BRUVS (baited remote underwater video systems), with a particular interest in how sharks interact with blue carbon ecosystems like seagrass meadows.
Now a certified DiveMaster and passionate science communicator, Liv is dedicated to making marine science more engaging, inclusive, and accessible to all and to inspire the next generation of ocean stewards!
