Last year we held an entirely virtual tour instead of our usual presentation tour visiting most major universities in the UK, USA, Canada and around the world to talk about how to get involved in these amazing opportunities. This Autumn we are so happy to say some universities are going to allow us to hold presentations again, albeit with smaller audiences. So we plan to be able to offer both in person meetings and virtual ones held online. Usually during this period, we have a large number of students helping to promote our talks and expeditions and in return they receive a discount off their future expedition. We are still looking to do that this year and need your help!
As a group leader you do need to be a current student at university and you have the opportunity to earn a huge discount off an expedition next year plus you get a free Opwall hoodie, but there is only one role per university on a first come first serve basis, so if you are interested you had better get in there quick! Your main responsibilities would include popping up posters round the university (if possible), contacting lecturers about publicising the upcoming talks in their lectures, contacting relevant departments to send an email to undergraduates, speaking to relevant clubs and societies to help promote, and just generally spreading the word.
The promotional person role has less responsibility but you still get £100 off an expedition for next year if you want to join us in the field, and a free Opwall t-shirt (while stocks last). Your main responsibilities will vary depending on whether you are a current university student or not but will usually include popping up posters round the university (if possible), displaying electronic promotional material around the university, sharing information on your personal social media and relevant social media groups including the universities clubs and societies, and generally spreading the word!
