For many years, the charming island of Utila has enjoyed the reputation of being ‘the’ place to dive in the Caribbean, and in the since our project was established there in 2007 it has become the hub of marine research for Operation Wallacea. Accommodation is provided by the Bay Islands College of Diving (BICD), located a short walk outside of Utila town. Participants will be in shared dorm rooms with no more than 8 sharing bathroom /shower facilities, and all meals are provided by sunny BICD staff in the communal dining room. Learning to dive is made easy with confined training occurring both off their dock or in their pool, and their sun-deck (located in front of the main building) is not only where the boats leave from, but is a great place to relax!
