Katey’s first experience of Opwall was joining an expedition to Peru as a volunteer research assistant in 2016. Following being an Opwall Group Leader and graduating from The University of Liverpool with a BSc in Zoology, Katey went to South Africa in 2018 as a volunteer researcher. After graduating, she was offered the opportunity to work for Estación Biológica de Doñana, Spain, in 2019 where she contributed to research on Flamingo and invertebrate activity contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. The opportunity to contribute to scientific research and supporting communities across the world, to protect vulnerable habitats and species, is incredibly important to her and has encouraged her to pursue a career in conservation. Since the beginning of 2020 Katey has been organising the International Sales Tours. She is excited for her first season as an Opwall staff member in Madagascar 2020!
