Opwall teams began working in Royal Jozini Big 6 Game Reserve (Jozini, for short) in 2016, when our study elephants that were previously based in South Africa broke free across the border to Swaziland. Luckily, our research teams were able to move with them, which has given us a unique insight into the natural migration of elephants between habitats. With both lakes and mountains forming its borders. Jozini is one of our most picturesque research sites in southern Africa. Students staying here will be in dorm rooms, and will also get chance to visit the nearby Pongola Game Reserve – the original home to our study elephants in South Africa.
