For the second part of your expedition you are based in Nkhata Bay. To get here from Kisiba you spend a full day travelling by bus (the whole journey takes around 12 hours including stops). One bus takes you to the Songwe border between Tanzania and Malawi, and there is another bus to pick you up on the other side once you have cleared customs. The accommodation in Nkhata Bay is set in a lodge on the steep shores of Lake Malawi. You sleep in dormitories and have the relative luxury of running water! There are shared bathrooms with composting toilets and showers, and meals are taken in a small restaurant overlooking the lake. The diving is mostly done right in front of the lodge.
