ASDAN Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE)

By its very nature, the process of preparing for and undertaking an Opwall expedition provides an opportunity to gain a number of skills which you will find useful in furthering your education and career prospects. You can capitalise on this opportunity by registering with ASDAN when you sign up for an Opwall expedition, and then completing a portfolio of evidence before and during the expedition which will allow you to apply for the Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE), which is worth 70 UCAS points. With competition for jobs and University places hotter than ever, the transferable skills that you will demonstrate with this qualification can provide you with a crucial advantage. The CoPE assessment and certification with Operation Wallacea is based on the completion of several challenges (selected from 6 potential modules), along with portfolio evidence of the following six wider skills:

  • Working with Others

  • Improving Own Learning and Performance

  • Problem Solving

  • Research

  • Communicating through Discussion

  • Oral Presentation

If you are interested in achieving the CoPE certification, Operation Wallacea will meet with your school or college to explain exactly how the certification process works and what will be required of you, and will also hold progress review sessions with the group to ensure that everything is on target. We will internally moderate your portfolio evidence, and will assess your performance on expedition on the various tasks, before sending the portfolio evidence to ASDAN for external moderation after the expedition.
