Before You Go

Before you embark on your fantastic expedition with Operation Wallacea you will need to have the following organised.  If you have yet to arrange any of the following, full details of how can be found on our Honduras travel page

Flights - should be booked to your expedition starting point - San Pedro Sula and should arrive before 7am on your expedition start day.  Return flights can be booked from 2pm on the Tuesday.  For UK volunteers as soon as your flights are booked please send details to us at info@opwall.com whilst for US volunteers please send details to usa@opwall.com or Canadian volunteers send details to canada@opwall.com. If you are transiting through the US have you completed your on line registration.

Accommodation - if you are arriving before your expedition start date or if you are staying on after your expedition end date you will need to book accommodation.  We would recommend that you contact Dennis at dennis@mayatempletours.com who will organise accommodation fr you and ensure you are met at the airport.

VISA - UK and EU nationals need a tourist visa, please see our travel page for full details.

Money - You will need enough spending money to cover personal on-site expenditure i.e. soft drinks, dive equipment hire etc. The unit of currency is the Lempira.  Using an ATM card with Visa or Cirrus logo is the easiest and most cost effective way of getting local currency and this can be done on arrival in San Pedro, bringing out an additional $50 US dollars is also advisable.

Passport - Your passport must have at least 6 months left (counting from your proposed departure date from Honduras) before the expiry date, otherwise you will be refused entry.  It is worthwhile carrying a photocopy of your passport with you because if it is lost you will have a much easier time getting a replacement.  Also in Honduras it is required that you carry an ID card or passport with you at all times, but photocopies of passports are accepted.

Personal details and Flight details forms These forms must be returned by 15 March 2011 at the latest and preferably well before this date.

PADI Forms - Please bring your original, completed PADI forms with you to Honduras this summer and send a copy to Alison Darlington in the UK Opwall office.  Without these forms you may not be able to dive.
